HOW TO USE SPF WITH YOUR OIL-CLEANSING REGIMEN

Swimsuits are out and sweaters are officially in! But don’t think that just because you won't be hitting the pool anytime soon you don't have to wear your sunscreen.

MYTH: If it’s cool or cloudy, you don’t need SPF (awesome explanation of SPF).

TRUTH: According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, up to 80% of the sun’s UV rays can pass through the clouds. That’s why you can still get sunburned on an overcast fall day if you don’t apply SPF.

My favorite sunscreen is by Kiss My Face. It's broad-spectrum, all-natural, and smells great! After oil-cleansing, moisturize with your favorite CRUDE oil then apply your sunscreen for optimal protection.

Finding a foundation with SPF is always a plus, too. I love mineral makeup because it looks really natural and usually contains zinc oxide or titanium oxide, ingredients that naturally block UVB/UVA rays. Keep in mind that sun protection levels will vary according to application, so not all mineral makeups will have an official SPF rating. For this reason, you'll still want to apply sunscreen, especially if you'll be outdoors for extended periods of time.

Youngblood is my top pick for amazing coverage and sun protection (contains titanium oxide for SPF)! It's lightweight and a little bit goes a long way. It also doesn't have any of the common irritants like chemicals, dyes, and preservatives found in conventional makeup.

So let's be nice to our skin with CRUDE + SPF all year round. You might have put your bikinis away for the season, but the sun isn't going anywhere and taking care of your skin is always in.
